Course objectives
The subject focuses in detail on the physiology of the individual tissues of the human musculoskeletal system and the control of human motor function.
The goal is to understand the physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of tissue adaptation or maladaptation to various stimuli.
The acquired knowledge is applied through specific techniques for diagnosing and treating individual tissues as well as the entire musculoskeletal system, with a focus on the head and cervical spine region.
Kinesiological relationships are perceived in the context of developmental neurophysiology.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will understand the principles of diagnosis and therapy as outlined in the course syllabus and will be able to apply the respective techniques in physiotherapy practice to the same extent.
Syllabus
Lectures: General principles of motor control, including neurofacilitation and inhibition methods. Physiology, pathophysiology, and biomechanics of bone and the skeletal system; cartilage and articular cartilage; ligaments; muscles and joints. Kinesiology of the axial system – movement segments, components of the axial system, passive and active stability of segments and sectors. Kinesiology of the cervical spine – functional significance, passive and active stability of individual movement segments, clinical aspects, functional and structural pathologies of specific regions. Practical Exercises: Diagnostic and physiotherapeutic methods in rehabilitation in relation to Evidence-Based Medicine. Inspection and palpation-based diagnostics and physiotherapy of musculoskeletal tissues in the head and neck region, including reflexology and myofascial chains.

Teaching methods
Students will be introduced to the subject matter through lectures, followed by hands-on practice of patient examination and manual therapy techniques in accordance with the course syllabus.
The practical component is conducted in small groups through direct contact.
Students are first provided with a theoretical overview, then the correct technique is demonstrated to them, and subsequently, they practice it.
During the practice, students are supervised by the instructor, who provides feedback and corrects the performance as needed.
Assessment methods
100% attendance in classes, one graded presentation on an assigned topic, two written tests, three practical assessments during the semester, a final written test, and a practical examination at the end of the semester.
Language of instruction
