Course objectives
Students will
- study the principles of teaching English as a foreign language which are based on the concept of communicative approach in foreign language teaching;
- try individual methods and techniques via micro-teaching and assess their effectivity;
- choose and critically evaluate teaching as well as authentic materials for lessons;
- analyse learners' mistakes and suggest different ways of correction and giving constructive feedback;
- use the teaching portfolio to reflect their professional development.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- apply methods and techniques of English language teaching based on communicative approach in their teaching practice;
- defend the usage of the methods and techniques referring to theoretical sources;
- choose, critically evaluate and adopt teaching as well as authentic materials for lessons;
- analyse their learners' mistakes and correct them in an appropriate way;
- give constructive feedback to their learners;
- create their teaching portfolio during the whole semester;
- reflect their progress in the profession using their teaching portfolio.
