Course objectives

At the end of the course students should be able to:
plan and prepare a biological, ecological and geological experiments for the second stage of basic education;
realize a biological, ecological and geological experiments for the second stage of basic education;
reflect attempts;
discuss the benefits of experiments in teaching

Learning outcomes

- student uses the correct professional terminology and is able to select concepts and phenomena corresponding to the level of elementary school pupils; - student selects and uses appropriate experiments and observations in the teaching of selected phenomena and processes.

Syllabus

• An overview of topics according to the thematic units of Natural History listed in the FEP EE):
• I. General Biology and Genetics
• 1. Classification of organisms, Creating of a cell model,
• 2. Basics of genetics practically
• II. Biology of Fungi
• 3. Fungi and conditions of their formation
• 4. Recognizing fungi with fruiting bodies
• III. Plant Biology
• 5. Medicinal plants
• 6. Water uptake, conduction, and expenditure by plants
• IV. Animal Biology
• 7. Establishment of a vermicomposter, observation of the common earthworm
• 8. Migration on the example of a selected group of animals
• V. Human Biology
• 9. Structure and function of the heart (creating a dynamic model)
• 10. Content of individual nutrients in the human diet (diet analysis and modification)
• VI. Inanimate Nature
• 11. Volcanic activity and its remains in the Czech Republic
• VII. Basics of Ecology. 12. Habitat properties (organisms as indicators)
