Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the main milestones of Czech statehood development between Munich 1938 and February 1948 to show the consequences of the division of the spheres of influence between the victorious powers on the development of the struggle for political power in Czechoslovakia between 1945 and 1948. Contribute to the deepening of students' sources and literature of different provenance to this issue and to use their content in the interpretation of specific content issues concerning the period of development in 1938-1948.

The student is determined to identify the main milestones of the development of Czech statehood between Munich 1938 and February 1948
Syllabus
  • Causes and Consequences of Munich 1938 for Czechoslovakia. statehood, possibilities of military defense of the republic in 1938. Political development II. the Czechoslovakia in March 1939. The context of the creation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the independent Slovak Republic. Efforts to maintain continuity of MS. statehood in foreign and domestic resistance, creating conditions for restoration of statehood in the final phase II. world war. Conception of the New Government Program Platform, Košice Government Program. Internal and External Context of Political Development in 1945 - 1948 (Beneš's decrees, expulsion, retribution, 1946 elections, etc.). The possibilities and limits of the influence of the main political forces in the struggle for grasping power in this period. February 1948 and its consequences.
