Course objectives
The course's main objective is to develop speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills at upper-intermediate level. The basic study material is the coursebook Outcomes Upper-Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials. Throughout the semester students are encouraged to link theory in the classroom to practice at schools via practical tasks.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at the upper-intermediate level, and communicate in the language fluently.

  • The basic study material is the coursebook Outcomes UPPER- INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook), see Literature below. The syllabus includes Units 1- 4, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and the development of students' vocabulary.

Assessment methods
Maximum number of points per semester: 100 Pass mark: 70 (part of this sum is also the final written test, students must obtain at least 70% for this final test - if not: two resits of the final test are offered) Written test: 40 points Oral test: 30 points, Progress test: 10 points. Other types of continuous assessment: 20 points
