Course objectives
The aim of the course, Didactics of Music 1 for students is to build the interconnections from the previously acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills such as music theory, harmony, music history and teaching instrumental and vocal training so that the student is able to apply them in practice. In accordance with current trends in Education, attention is paid to non-traditional methods and forms of work aimed at the development of musical creativity and elementary music. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on the concept of the subject, which contributes to the understanding of the connections between different types of art. The aim of the subject is: - to learn basic skills in the field of vocal, intonational, rhythmical-movement and instrumental activities; - master the basics of playing the soprano recorder.
Learning outcomes
Student • - is able to create and practice musical games to develop skills such as bringing up the head tone, they should be able to create breathing and vocal exercises • -can apply the rhythmical element in connection with rhythm, nursery rhymes, while working with literary text • - Develops sensoric-motor skills using elements such as body percussion, rhythmic pulsation and feeling • - acquire basic timing skills (e.g. conducting), is able to create instrumental accompaniments to songs and apply them when while working with children • - demonstrates her/his skills playing the soprano recorder.
Syllabus
  • - Theoretical introduction to Didactics of Music (characteristics of the subject; music-educational activities; clasification of music abilities; creating thematic units and their application in the lesson; arrangement of Music lessons). - Vocal activities: Elements of vocal training; Methodology of training homophonic songs. Intonational activites. - Introduction to the play the soprano recorder. Written arrangements of the songs for small children (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2). - Declamation: rhythm of words in the text, working with nursery rhymes and poems. - Rhythmical, rythmic-kinaestetic and instrumental activities. - Introduction to conducting in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time.

Teaching methods
Practical preparation: singing – breathing, vocal and intonational exercises, monophonic and polyphonic song – work with text – accompanied on elementary musical instruments; conducting. Playing the piano and soprano recorder; Body percussion. Composing Music for children's rhymes/poems and writing it to the stave; an elaboration of the score to the selected song – an instrumental accompaniment.
Assessment methods
Type of teaching: seminar Credit requirements: a) A minimum of 80% active participation in seminars. b) Composing music for a children's nursery rhyme/poem and writing it to the stave. c) Breathing and vocal exercises – written preparation of a warmup exercises for a selected year at the lower grades within primary education. d) Mastering the basics of playing the soprano recorder (C, D, G, F major; 3 folk songs, one song arranged for small children (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2)). e) 6 folk songs, 4 artificial songs: singing, playing the piano and conducting. f) An elaboration of the score to the selected song – an instrumental accompaniment.
