Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquire basic theoretical knowledge and experience with methods and techniques of drama education, especially to get acquainted with the construction of lessons with the use of methods of drama education in the educational process.
The aim is:
- To provide students of education with a comprehensive insight into the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of dramatic methods in the educational process.
- To develop skills in planning, implementing and evaluating dramatic activities and games.
- To encourage reflection and analysis of own dramatic activities and their impact on target groups.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to define individual methods and techniques of DV, it can include them in the design of DV lesson, evaluate and justify their use in DV lesson.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to the didactics of drama education. Definition and meaning of drama education. History and theoretical foundations.
  • Planning of dramatic activities. How to create an effective plan for dramatic activities. Setting goals and expectations for a selected age group.
  • Methods and techniques of drama education. Dramatic games and exercises.
  • Implementation of dramatic activities. Practical aspects of conducting dramatic games and activities. Group management and facilitation.
  • Reflection and evaluation. Methods of reflection on dramatic activities. Evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of dramatic methods.

Náhradní absolvování
In the case of a study abroad stay, it is possible to take the course as a substitute. The student will study the required literature from the course syllabus list, from which he/she will write and submit an excerpt. The learner completes, methodically describes and reflects on a drama lesson of 2 hours in organizations/institutions dedicated to the target groups of education. The learner designs, methodically describes, implements, reflects and evaluates a dramatic activity. He/she further discusses his/her excerpts and the experience with the course tutor in person/online.
