Course objectives
The main objective is to improve the students' English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes will be based on different topics connected with cultural studies and students'perception of various cultures. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students.At the end of the course students should be able to understand how to present a topic of interest to them. They should be able to interpret texts of an advanced level and be able to respond to advanced-level input with a high level of accuracy.

Teaching methods
Students will take part in pair-work, group-work, class discussions and will be expected to participate in on-line forums as well as write an assignment, and work on their portfolios.
Assessment methods
The contunious assessment (CA) will consist of one progress test, one writing assignment, a handed in portfolio and forum participation. (Recommended is one original entry and one response for each topic.) The pass mark for CA is 70percent.
The credit test will consisst of the final credit test with a pass mark 70 percent and the final speaking test with a pass mark 70 percent. The students will present their portfolios and address a given topic. The speaking and the portfolios will be evaluated according to respective evaluation rubrics.
