Course objectives
The objective of this subject are basic aspect of the word, its function in the ambit of the language system, its status and functions in the particular stylistic level. The basic theoretic lexical and stylistic analysis of the text is the part of the lecture. The emphasis is placed especially on the reciprocal correlation, on the word and its function in different stylistical levels.
Syllabus
  • From the theoretic perspective the word is focused as a basic unit of the language, that has its own specific historical evolution. The actual vocabulary of the Russian language is investigating from different points of view: 1. The word as a basic unit of the language. 2. Lexicography. 3. Original and polisemic words, words of foreign origin. 4. Neologism. 5. Archaism and historism. 6. Vocabulary changes in the Soviet period. 7. Vocabulary changes in the 90 of the last century.
