Course objectives
EAP The intermediate student (Level B2) can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including discussions on his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. Final presentation and Final Test at the end of semester.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Examination requirements: - attendance (not more than 2 classes missed, active class participation, all extra-class tasks and assignments submitted, credit test (level B2/FCE, passing limit – 65%). A two-part final examination: 1) Presentation of the final thesis (topic introduction, aims, structure, etc.) + presentation of three relevant sources of information for the thesis (a book, article and/or internet source). A brief background research must be submitted in written form prior to the exam to e-learning ODEVZDAVARNA - BY 30th November 2007! 2) Reading, comprehension and paraphrasing of an unfamiliar authentic text related to the field of study.
