Course objectives
The goal of this class is to give students information about the school advisory system in the Czech Republic. Students will gain knowledge to navigate through the issues of counselling in elementary school and its practical use in their profession. Students should develop an overview of the various entities of the counselling system, gain knowledge about the fundamentals of the counselling relationship and its application in practice. They should understand the importace and role of consultants. At the end of this course the student will be able to elaborate a case study.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to the school counselling system. Institute of Educational and psychological counselling in CR. Educational and psychological counselling. Centre of educational care. Children's Diagnostic institute and Diagnostic Institute for Young People. The social-legal protection of children. School Psychologist. School methodist of prevention Special education teacher. Educational consultant. The school as a factor of counselling process. The role of the class teacher in elementary school counselling. The role of parent and pupil in elementary school counsellor. The individual role of the entities participating in counselling at the elementary school. Options if counselling work at elementary school. Educational problems of pupils in basic schools and possible solutions. Individual Education Plan. The legislative framework for counselling.
