Course objectives
THE COURSE IS OPENED TO ALL MU STUDENTS The aim of the subject is for students to understand the close relationship between social reality and the structure of organized education. To understand contemporary problems of education as a disproportion between the reality and the structure.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will: • understand the principle of the institution and distinguish between an institution and an organization • understand the historical background of institutions • realize that school and family are dynamic processes in their relation to changes of social conditions • understand the influence of globalization in the process of knowledge reproduction

  • 1. Modernism and institution, late modernism and institutions 2. Changes in family forms and functions in 20th and 21st century 3. Changes in school functions: school as a mean of national homogenization and school as homogenization based on nationality 4. Changes in school functions: globalization challenge, new ethnicization of school 5. Transmitting of education and globalization challenge: school in 21st century 6. Ethnicization and universalism in institutions of socialization and education 7. Transmitting of cultural capital and contemporary society

Assessment methods
group term work, test Reading papers and filling the study forms Active participation in teaching and discussions Final exam with extensive individual preparation: Test form: The exam is oral. The student knows the topics one month before the start of the examination period. It is expected that the student will supplement the teaching topics with other critically mastered resources. Before the exam, the student chooses one topic and has 30 minutes for the final preparation of his / her performance, this part is a written point structure of the final preparation with references to the sources used and a list of sources used. The test lasts 20 minutes. The student has 10 minutes for an independent presentation of the topic. Then there are 6 minutes of space for questions asked by the teacher. And the last 2 minutes are dedicated to feedback. It is evaluated: The relevance of information and resources. Ability to present your prepared topic as a well-organized argument. React to resolve issues. Ability to connect the topic with related topics. Ability to apply knowledge of the work of a (social) pedagogue.
