THE COURSE IS OPEN TO ALL MU STUDENTS. Knowledge of the basics of philosophy at the bachelor's degree level of non-philosophical specialization. Prerequisite is orientation in basic disciplines (general pedagogy, social pedagogy, psychology).

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to teach students to identify and critically compare the concepts of thought on which important authors of selected social sciences are based. The focus will be on two scientific disciplines that are important for the field studied: social pedagogy and social work.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
• distinguish the humanities from the social sciences and natural sciences
• characterize the traditional features of the natural, social and human sciences
• identify philosophical starting points in the works of important educators
• identify the effects of various philosophical concepts and ideologies on pedagogy
• critically read and interpret texts
• identify differences in the approach of social pedagogy and social work at national and European level
• distinguish the pros and cons of individual concepts of social pedagogy

Assessment methods
Regular study and reading evidenced by well-filled study forms. Active participation in teaching and discussions. Final exam with extensive individual and collective preparation.

Test form:
The exam has two parts: written and oral. The written part of the exam consists in the elaboration and submission of a seminar paper. The seminar work contains an analysis of the basic ideas of the selected author. The selection of the author will take place on the basis of an agreement between the student and the teacher. During the oral exam, the student justifies his analysis.
Evaluated: Relevance of information and resources. Ability to present your prepared topic as a well-organized argument. React to laid questions. Ability to connect the topic with related topics. Ability to apply knowledge of the work of a social pedagogue.
