- Course objectives
- After graduating the course, the student should be familiar with basic legal issues related to preschool children, preschool education and the managing of kindergarten.
- Learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is, after the necessary orientation in basic legal concepts and the legal system, to develop the basic awareness of the legal aspects related to kindergarten (legal school regulation, legal form, admission procedure to kindergarten, position of the headmaster, financing of kindergarten, hygiene and health regulations, basics of labour law, qualifications of teacher, protection of the child's private personality) and issues related to preschool children (basics of family law, relations between parents and children, crimes in relation to children).

- 1. Introduction to law. Basic concepts of legal theory. The legal system of the Czech Republic. 2. Private and public law. 3. Dispute resolution in law – the court system. Characteristics of legal professions. 4. Legal status of kindergartens. Preschool education. Legal aspects of the admission procedure to kindergartens. 5. Legal aspects of the admission procedure to kindergartens II. Position of the school principal, judicial review of the school principal's decisions. Termination of preschool education. 6. Hygiene regulations. Legal aspects of catering in kindergartens. 7. Responsibility of kindergarten teachers for the behavior and injuries of pupils. 8. Qualifications of kindergarten teachers and principals. Basics of labor law – specifics of the employment relationship of teaching staff. 9. Personal data protection (GDPR in kindergartens). 10. Financing of kindergartens. The role of kindergartens in relation to OSPOD and other authorities. 11. Czech School Inspectorate. Children's groups. 12. Issues relating to kindergartens in court case law. Current issues in the field of education. 13. Basics of family law, relationships with children.

- Teaching methods
- Full-time students: Seminars, active participation, discussions, solving practical examples, preparing and giving presentations. Part-time students: Opportunity to participate in consultations, discussions, solving practical examples.
- Assessment methods
- Written and oral colloquium. The written part is individual and covers legal regulations. The oral part is a group discussion on a selected issue related to the running of a nursery school.
- Náhradní absolvování
- Students with approved ISP (e.g., Erasmus study) will prepare selected examples for students without ISP for seminars (to be specified by the teacher and sent by email) and write a short seminar paper of approximately 3-4 standard pages on one of the topics listed above. They can use MS Teams consultations in case of any uncertainties, at any time by prior arrangement.
