A pass in SZ7BP_1AB1 The intermediate student (Level B1) can understand the main ideas of texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including special discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with partners without strain for either party. Can produce an essay on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Course objectives
Level B1 Course. Based on the common language learning skills, the student will learn and deepen some other academic skills (oral presentations, discussions, presenting and justifying the point, etc.) in English. The students will be assessed for their active participation in the course (oral and written presentations), as well as for a summary and analysis of an authentic text related to their field of study plus discussion based on special topics (at the examination, at the end of the course).

  • SZ7BP_2AB1 Cizí jazyk B - jazyk anglický 1. Current problems in Czech schools, especially bullying. Text 18. (Discussion, arguing the point. Essay writing. Role-play.) 2. Rules and restrictions. Crime and punishment. Text 11. (Discussion, arguing, supporting arguments. Mini-presentation, slogans, posters.) 3. Interpersonal relations. Non-verbal communication, body language. Text 5. (Opinion exchange, comparing differences and similarities. Role play. Picture descriptions.) 4. Gender, race, cultural differences. Ethnic minorities, immigration. Text 7. (Discussion, arguments based on experience. Problem solving. Reflections based on notes. Discursive composition - pros, cons, conclusions.) 5. Teaching profession. Advantages and disadvantages. Text 12. (Discussion. Expressing opinion. Essay writing.) SPECIAL TASK: My specialization - hot issues in the teacher's course of study. Current resources related to the field of study. E-learning. My future job. (Presentation based on a research.) Final Test (Level B1. Pass limit 65%).
