Course objectives
The course objective is to provide a deeper insight into the problematic nature of learner-centred approach in foreign language teaching.
Syllabus
  • This course makes part of the optional courses of the didactic section (subsection Topical chapters on didactics of foreign languages); it is offered especially to students whose dissertation is related to this topic. The course objective is to provide a deeper insight into the problematic nature of learner-centred approach in foreign language teaching. This field has been dealt with in theory, however, there is a lack of research studies which would connect theoretical knowledge with teaching/school practice, or which would look into the process of foreign language learning and teaching in school environment. Therefore attention will be paid to possibilities of research in the given filed in school practice. Topics to cover: • Individual differences of a pupil (motivation, age, intelligence, language aptitude, learning styles and strategies, self-conception, attribution, pupil´s beliefs). • Autonomy of the pupil and its development. • Principles of individualisation and differenciation in foreign language teaching and their research.
