Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able: to analyze French sentence construction in comparison with a Czech sentence; to give differences between direct and indirect speech; to understand and be able to explain standard and deviations of valid rules, Anglicism and Germanisms.
Syllabus
1. Differences in language formation of the same facts in French and Czech languages (specific transformation of a French utterance into Czech, participial construction, “pour”+ infinitive, ”sans”+ infinitive constructions …, tendency to nominal expressing ideas). 2. Direct, indirect semi-direct speech. Sequence of tenses 3. Indirect question concerning persons, things and abstracts, contents, whole sentence. 4. 1990 changes in spelling: compound words, conjugation, nouns - plural in foreign words mainly, etc.
