Course objectives
The lecture Syntax 2 follows Syntax 1 with circuits related to the composition of sentences. The seminar serves as a theoretical interpretation of questions further trained in the seminar Syntax 2 - Seminar and for further deepening the understanding of the structure of the French language based on reading texts, analysis of selected sentences and exercises from French university sources. The aim of the seminar is to enable students to gain a contrastive view of the French sentence and to understand the composition of the French Sentence, its specifics, coordination and subordination relationships, and the word ordre of individual types of sentences.
Syllabus
  • 1. Word order in a French sentence compared with Czech 2. Punctuation in a French sentence. 3. Sentence constituents, their relations (co-ordinative, determinative). Syntactic couples. 4. Relations between sentences expressing tenses and moods. 5. Contemporary trends in language. 6. Dependent proverbial sentences (conditional, admission, consequential, purpose, temporal, causal). 7. Participles in the syntax.
