Course objectives
At the end of the course the students should be able to: work with information on the history of historigraphy from the 19th century to the present. It deals with historiography in a broader, generally cultural context, and will also monitor the evolution of the relationship of history to related humanities (philosophy, sociology, literature, etc.).
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to use information about the history of Czech historiography from the mid-19th century to the present. It deals with historiography in a broader, generally cultural context and will also monitor the evolution of the relationship of history to related historical sciences.
Syllabus
  • 1. The Basics of the Renaissance Historiography. 2. Liberal and conservative historiography. 3. The origins of positivist historiography. 4. Positivist historiography of the second half of the 19th century. 5. Positivist historiography between the two world wars. 6. Marxist historiography.
