Course objectives
The aim is to deepen and broaden general knowledge of Russian culture in relation to the study of the language, strengthen the ability to understand spoken Russian, Improve the ability of students to express an opinions in Russian.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course:
student has an overview of Russian culture of different historical periods, on the international significance of Russian culture;
student can find information, texts and videos on RuNet and functionally use them;
student controls the thematic vocabulary

  • 1. Development of Russian Fine Arts. Icons, iconographers.
  • 2. Secular painting. Significant Russian painters 18.-19. century.
  • 3. Significant Russian painters end 19-20. century.
  • 4. Russian folk music. National musical instruments.
  • 5. Russian classical music. Famous composers of the 19th century.
  • 6. Russian music in the 20th century. Contemporary Russian music.
  • 7. The development of Russian theater until the 19th century.
  • 8. Russian Theater in 19-20. century.
  • 9. Russian ballet. Djagilev's Russian seasons.
  • 10. The development of Russian cinema in the 20th century. Popular Russian actors and Russian actresses.
