- Course objectives
- The course 'Practical language' is focused on the development of real-life communicative skills at advanced level by means of creative grammar work, personalized speaking tasks, lexis presented in context and realistic listening and reading. The main aim is to promote learning and achieve progress by focusing on personal engagement.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will develop all four skill areas, reading, listening, speaking and writing, for better communication at an advanced level (CEFR C1), they will work on extending the range and accuracy of their language as well as register. Ss will learn to analyze language for teaching purposes and will be aware of the fact that they are changing their roles - from being the users of the language into being a source of information about the language and language model providers.
- Syllabus
- The course is based on New English File Advanced book. This term Units 3 and 4 will be covered with equal attention paid to reading, speaking and listening skills. Additional work (grammar, listening, vocabulary work) will be incorporated where appropriate according to the students' needs.

- class discussion, pair work, group work, reading, essay, written test
- Assessment methods
- Continuous assessment (= progress test + essay). Students need to score 70%; the progress test has no re-sit. Final assessment - written test (pass mark 70%) + oral exam.
