Course objectives
The goal is to give students a comprehensive overview of developments of French literature from its beginnings until today. Main attention is given to literature of the 20th century. Framing literary tendencies, trends and groups in a broader contemporary cultural context. Medallions of famous authors.
Learning outcomes
Students will acquire an overview of the history of French literature and will be able to compare it with the development of other world literatures and Czech literature.

  • 1st Earlier French literature. 2nd Literature Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism. 3rd Enlightenment. 4th Romanticism. 5th Realism and naturalism. 6th Literature of the late 19th and early 20 century. 7th Literature of the 20th century.
