Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of physical and socio-economic geography is assumed. Interest into field work is neccesary.

Course objectives
The aim of this course is to get know Brno city by fieldwork as a place where students spend five years of his life.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to: - orientate according to the map in the city of Brno,
- identify places in the city of Brno suitable for teaching geography or city development.

  • The locations visited vary each year, they are locations within Brno or the surrounding area, where students apply basic methods of geographical research (observation, data collection, sketching, etc.):
  • - Hády Quarry,
  • - Bílá hora, Stránská skála,
  • - Babí lom,
  • - Hitler Highway Pillars,
  • - etc.

Teaching methods
Field work, geographic excursions and didactic walk.
Assessment methods
Active presence on fieldwork. Processing of given task (route recording, including annotated photo documentation).

The course is taught annually.
Teacher's information
The locations visited and the assigned tasks differ every year, so it is possible to repeat the course even after its successful completion. Students can thus become familiar with more possible places for the implementation of field practice and more activities that can be used in teaching at school.
