Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the current panorama of Catalan cinematography. An initial insight into the history of Catalan cinematography follows the screening of contemporary Catalan film directors. Since the subject is also open to students outside the field of Catalan language and literature, the films will always be available in Czech or English version (dubbing or subtitles).
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to: - Recognize some Catalan films and film directors. - Critically analyze Catalan cinema in the context of European cinema.

Assessment methods
Course attendance is obligatory, max. 3 absences are allowed without excuse throughout the semester. The subject is completed by an essay (at least 5 400 characters, about 3 pages), in which the student critically evaluates at least 3 selected films of the 10 which will be screened during the semester. However, students may choose more films, or compare them with others that have not been watched in the classroom and which the student has seen somewhere else.
