Course objectives
The course is focusing on the wider context of relations of fashion industry with culture and art in several periods. It corelates with development of fashion and fashion industry in context of culture, haute couture, popart, gender, politics in context of fashion.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
understand of fashion development in 20th century.
Syllabus
  • Fashion is a basic attribute of culture of mankind.
  • Development of fashion and fashion industry in context of culture.
  • Haute couture, popart, gender, politics in context of fashion.
  • Influence of Orient and Japan and China on fashion, relation of cubism, futurism, Russian avant-garde, surrealism, op-art, pop-art, rebels fashion (teddy boys, zooties, hippies, punk...).
  • Fasions designers - Worth, Callot Seurs, Doucet, Paquin, de Velde, Flögl, Poiret, Fortuny, Chanel, Lanvin, Vionnet, Balenciaga, Lelong, Podolská, Rosenbaum, Dior, Laurent, Givenchy, Courrèges, Rabanne, Quant, Cardin, Armani, Lacroix, Klein, Mugler, Versace, Kumagai, Kawakubo, Yamamoto, Miyake, Westvood, Margiela, Chalayan, Polanka, Zárubová, Kubíčková etc.
