- Course objectives
- The seminar is designed for future teachers and provides fundamental knowledge of the didactics of German as a foreign language. One focus is on the 'skills' of reading, listening, speaking and writing and the 'competences' and/or 'literacies' related to these. Approaches that focus more on the conventional side of language will be discussed in comparison with approaches that emphasise the fostering of linguistic creativity. Other important topics of the course are the functions, theoretical basis, structure and specifics of curricula and framework curricula relevant for teaching; the development of an overview of textbooks for German as a foreign language in use at Czech secondary schools and their critical analysis as well as insights into textbook research; as well as questions related to the use of digital media in the classroom and their didactic, pedagogical and institutional consequences.
- Learning outcomes
- Students broaden their basic knowledge of the didactics of German as a foreign language. They will be familiar with a range of possibilities for developing oral and written 'competences' and 'literacies'.They know relevant curricula and framework curricula as well as important textbooks for German as a foreign language with adolescent learners and can critically analyse them on the basis of scientific criteria. They gain an insight into the possibilities of working with digital media and can reflect on the role and relevance of digital change for teaching. They are able to independently familiarise themselves with various topics on the basis of scientific literature and to make the knowledge gained usable for their practice.
