Course objectives
The course introduces students to key epochs, authors and parts of the world literature. At the end of this course the student will get an overview of important thoughts, personalities and works from the history of individual national literature (Greek, Roman, English, and American, German, Scandinavian, French, Spanish, Russian and Polish). Based on the acquired knowledge, he will be able to better understand the importance of the world literature for the creation of individual literature in the European space.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to identify key epochs, authors and works of literary history. They will be able to orientate themselves in the canonical texts of individual national literatures, interpret them and realize how much they have contributed to the formation of the European literary space.
Syllabus
  • Lectures and seminars will focus on: British, Australian, Greek, Czech, Latin-American, French and German-language literature from the beginning to the present. Other themes are: fantasy, anti-autopsy, science fiction, self-reflective narration and metamorphism, postmodernism.
