Course objectives
The aim of the course is to prepare future teachers of pedagogy, both in terms of knowledge and skills, to manage the transition from teacher training to professional practice as well as other career paths. The course is composed of two parts. The first one deals with managing to enter the profession and getting acquainted with the duties of the teacher. The second part consists of the basics of didactics of pedagogy. The course will provide not only an important knowledge and skills base, but will also allow teachers to continuously interact with their field of study and will prepare them for their own life-long professional development.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: a) orient oneself in the profession of a pedagogy teacher b) apply the specialized knowledge gained in the preparation of their own pedagogy lessons and their delivery, while being able to assess the effects of their own teaching c) accurately define the aims of instruction and find appropriate methods and means of teaching d) apply learning and classroom management rules in practice e) present well-founded (reasoned, rational) decisions concerning the theory and practice of teaching pedagogy at upper secondary schools
Syllabus
  • 1. Curriculum: Study of the Framework Educational Programme for Upper Secondary Pedagogical Schools. 2. Didactic curriculum design: Curriculum selection and structuring, curriculum analysis, learning tasks, textbooks. 3. Preparation of lessons: Learning objectives, methods and forms, didactic means, teaching phases. 4. Management of the teaching process: Classroom management and leadership, group dynamics, discipline, classroom climate. 5. Issues related to education and training of future teachers and educators: Specifics of teaching pedagogy and other pedagogical disciplines, teacher education issues. 6. Classroom and school management: School management issues and legislative issues in the teacher’s work. 7. Working with school documentation and administration. 8. Occupational safety and health at school. 9. Problems faced by the beginning teacher and suggestions for how to handle them. 10. Preparation and management of parent-teacher conferences.

General note: Jde o Didaktiku pedagogiky I a počet kreditů byl od roku 2015 snížen na 2 kredity (z původních 4). Tato úprava byla byla realizována na základě nové akreditace v létě roku 2015. Případné nesrovnalosti v počtu kreditů je nutné řešit s garantem oboru.
