Course objectives
The seeking for the understanding to the scientifical knowledge not only in the history of philosophy but also at present. A brief overview of the philosophers' ideas from the Antique till XIX. cent. Closely will be discussed the ideas about the science in XX. cent., mainly so-called historical schools of the philosophy of science. Also some selected problems of the scientifical approach to the reality will be studied with special interest for the relation between the natural and social sciences. The seminars will be given to the students' papers about the significant literature.

  • 3. The Middle Ages understanding to the science; the beginnings of the critique of Aristotle's model
  • 4. The renaissance science
  • 5. The modern understanding to the science: Descartes, Newton
  • 6. The positivistic understanding to the science
  • 7. Irrationalism, the crisis of the belief to the science and the Neo-positivistic answer
  • 8. K. R. Popper
  • 9. Historical school of the development of the science
  • 10. The struggle for the status of the social sciences
  • 11. The society, the science, and the technics
  • 12. The theory, the fact, the reductionism
  • 13. The modern relativisation of the term of theory: philosophy and science
  • 14. The psychology, the sociology, and the ethics of the science
