Course objectives
The content of the seminar is following: - lexical and stylistic exercises (for example synonymy, homonymy, antonymy) – active usage of vocabulary from given conversational topics, - interpretation of the text (that was heard and read) – essays on given topics. The aim of the course is to develop and practise Czech vocabulary and improve students’ knowledge and communications skills.
Syllabus
  • The main attention is paid to improvement and enrichment of students’ vocabulary obtained in CJQ004. Exercises are aimed to practice synonymy, antonym and homonymy. a/ synonymy – words that have similar meaning, intensity, superior concepts, differences in meaning and style, foreign words b/ antonyms – antonyms in words, sentences, differences in meaning c/ homonymy Other subjects will be for example: replacement of one-word constructions by more-words constructions and vice versa, verbs of motion, verbs that express sounds; foreign geographical names and expressions that reflect quantity.

There will be colloquium (final written test) in the end of the term. Attendance: at least 75%.
