- Course objectives
- To demonstrate in a basic outline the social and economic problems in European history, primarily in the 16th and 17th centuries. To describe the climatic and demographic conditions of the time. To characterise the expansion and transformation of agriculture, craft production, trading and finance. To describe and illustrate the state and level of research in broader social history, principally the history of the everyday, microhistory and historical anthropology. To compare in subsequent discussions knowledge of individual themes and the consequences for Czech historiogrpahy. By the end of the course students should be able to give a basic overview of the condition and level of the individual areas of the Early Modern European economy and characterises the main themes in social history from a given period.
