Syllabus
  • 1. Hinduism: Artificial religion. Origin of Hinduism as the World religion, social and historical context.
  • 2. Buddha: Life and teaching; the life of the founder of the religion.
  • 3. Cycle of rebirth: Bhavachakra. Basic Buddhist concept of the world.
  • 4. Konfucianism and Daoism; the oldest religious-philosophical system in traditional China.
  • 5. Buddhism in China; its role in China culture, history and society
  • 6. Shinto; the oldest religious-philosophical system in traditional Japon; traditional Japan mythology and its deities.
  • 7. Buddhism in Japon; its role in Japon culture, history and society (Nara, Heian and Kamakura periods; 7.-14. century).
  • 8. New religious movements in Japon: Tenrikyo, Soka gakkai a Om shinrikyo.
  • 9. Joga and tantra. Philosophical tradition of the yoga and tantric world view.
