- Course objectives
- Subject "Practicum in music archive" introduces students into the organisation and research problematic area of musical archive. Student learn how to recognise and work with different musical sources. It`s goal is to provide to the students basic information about sorts of musical sources. Individual works for student are following: sorting of composer`s/musician`s/other musical personality`s/institution`s estate, work with musical pieces and documents and musical or written edition of small range.

- Topics: • 1. Musical archive as an musical institution - Musical archives in Czech republic and abroad. • 2. Survey and organisation of collection in the Music History Department of Moravian Museum in Brno. • 4. Scinetific cataloguing od musical materials (techniques of processing of musical material, literary works and iconographic documents etc..) • 5. Editions - different editional techniques - practical examples. • 6. Paleografie – reading of musical sources from different times (kurent, roman characters). • 7. Electronical cataloguing of musical and literary pieces.
