Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are the following:
making students aware history of museology;
acquainting students with theory of identification of potential museum objects;
acquainting students with theory of museum's objects documentation making students aware protection of museum collections;
acquainting students with theory of museum presentation;
acquainting students with methods of museum presentation and application in practice;

  • Theoretical museology, basic tereminology;
  • History of museology, museologist in Europe;
  • History of museology in Czech Republic, famous museologist - Kliment Čermák, Josef Kazimour, Ladislav Lábek, J. F. Svoboda, Jiří Neústupný, Zbyněk Z. Stránský, Josef Beneš;
  • Theory of selection, basic terminology;
  • Collecting plan of museum;
  • Indetification of museum objects;
  • Musealia and museality;
  • Theory oh thesauration, basic terminology;
  • Documentation of museum objects
  • Museum thesauration, protection of museum collection;
  • Theoretical concept of preventive protection of museum collections;
  • Theoretical concept of conservation and restauration of museum collections;
  • Presenattion, types of museum's presentation;
  • Communication, museum communication;
  • Museum as mass medium;
  • Museum as a system of symbols and its interpretation by visitors;
