Course objectives
The doctoral student will be asked to display sufficient knowledge of the cardinal works in linguistics – by both Czech and foreign authors (Saussure, Martinet, Tesnière, Culioli, Guillaume, Benveniste, Šabršula, Maingueneau, Fuchs, etc) – and of the main linguistic schools themselves (structuralism, pragmatism, generativism and transformationalism).
