Course objectives
After a knowledge of language per se, the second foundation needed by language education professionals is an understanding of how language is learnt and acquired. This field of study is known as Language Acquisition. In this one semester course, trainees will delve into various aspects of this field through extensive reading, conducting experiments and analysing findings, and by reflecting on their own experiences as learners and teachers.

Teaching methods
The course consists of weekly seminars only. The trainees will delve into various aspects of this field through extensive reading, conducting experiments and analysing findings, and by reflecting on their own experiences as learners and teachers.
Assessment methods
The course concludes with a knowledge test. During the semester students will undertake various activities and make presentations of their research to their peers. In addition, they will regularly contribute to online forum discussions as part of "constructing knowledge", this being one of they Vygotsky's key constructs. These will be assessed. Attendance is compulsory.
