Course objectives
The main objective of this course is to present to students new 3D documentation methods of the archaeological finds. At the end of this course students should be able to create 3D models of archaeological artefacts both by 3D scanner and photogrammetry on their own. Theoretical and technical support (manuals, tutorials ...) will be avaible in e-learning, the practical part of the course (workshops) will be focused on the 3D documentation of various kind of artefacts.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction (plan of the course, theoretical and technical background)
  • 2. Practical training with 3D scanner (calibrations etc.)
  • 3. Scanning of the selected artefacts (pottery I)
  • 4. Scanning of the selected artefacts (pottery II)
  • 5. Scanning of the selected artefacts (small finds – brooches, coins, other metal finds I)
  • 6. Scanning of the selected artefacts (small finds – brooches, coins, other metal finds II)
  • 7. Scanning of the selected artefacts (large sized artefacts I)
  • 8. Scanning of the selected artefacts (large sized artefacts II)
  • 9. Photogrammetry methods (principles, training, testing)
  • 10. Photogrammetry methods (pottery and larger artefacts)
  • 11. Photogrammetry methods (metallic and other small finds)
  • 12. Finalisation of the individual projects (consultations)
