Course objectives
The goal of the course is to teach students philosophy of religion as a philosophical discipline dealing with religion as historical and cultural phenomenon, the fundaments of religion, its ethical and psychological aspects, the creation, the development, and the effect of religion on the character of civilization. Students will get an overview of the beginings, development and current state of the philosophy of religion. The students will learn comparatively about historical and contemporary religious systems, work with their traditions, teachings, rituals and founding figures. This will enrich their view of the history of mankind and widen their perspective in the world of contemporary religious and political relations. The primary focus of the course is the practical skills in meeting traditional and nonconformist religions. The students are supposed to learn mature and politically and humanistically correct behavior, tolerance and respect of the equality of different worldviews.
