Course objectives
At the end of the course the students will be able to understand and explain basic terms of theory of theatre and drama; to analyze dramatic text; to interpret dramatic text; to compare the texts from different periods.
Syllabus
  • Rámcová osnova: - key words of theory of drama; - key words of theory of literature; - analysis of dramatic text - methodology; - analysis of dramatic texts (6-8 seminars); - an introduction to the theatre theory in context of history of theatre.

Teaching methods
The course is taught as a series of seminars demonstrating critical work with literary texts of various genres. In the form of practical examples the case studies apply theoretical knowledge acquired by individual study to critical analysis proper. The lectures are interactive, expecting students' participation and an active involvement in the discussed examples.
Assessment methods
The assessment is based on the final oral exam. The exam consists of the questions of basic term of theory of drama and of knowledge of basic literature. The oral exam includes also an analytical part.
