Course objectives
Main aims of the lecture are: 1) more information on topics dealt with in CJA003, especially,
2) application of theoretical knowledge when reconstructing Proto-Slavonic forms,
3) elementary orientation in scholarly sources relating to Slavonic studies.

  • The subject of Slavonic studies
  • History of Slavonic linguistics – selected parts
  • Slavonic languages and their stratification
  • Slavonic script
  • From Proto-Indo European language to Proto-Slavonic
  • “Satem” and “kentum” types of languages
  • Baltic-Slavonic language unit
  • Proto-Slavonic (with the focus on phonology)
  • Dialectal differentiation of Proto-Slavonic
