The course focuses on the basic lexicological, lexicographical and morphological concepts and terms. A word as a lexical unit, lexical fund as a system and relations, the levels of words within it. The students become familiar with various types of dictionaries – one language dictionaries, translational dictionaries, onomasiological, semasiological, specialized in a certain kind of vocabulary – slang, phraseology, etc. The seminar topics are related to the frequency of the particular vocabulary and orthographic, lexical and stylistic variants are also considered.
