Course objectives
The course will enable the student to read a text as a coherent framework. Taking into account all the levels and internal relations will produce a translation that shall faithfully reflect the original.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course Text Linguistics I - Specialized Translation the student will be able to analyse the specialized text and to apply theoretical knowledge of the basic translation processes, which are introduced in the lecture (theory of advertisement, administrative, and literary and art criticism text) on the translation of a particular text.

  • - basic notions - bibliography - various specialized texts analysis - familiarization with the most common translation techniques in the translation of the text, defining the problem areas - translations of specific texts and common analysis

Teaching methods
Familiarization with the theoretical problems of translation of journalistic and administrative, technical, and literary- a art theoretical text. Application of acquired knowledge on authentic texts. Translation of texts from French into Czech. Joint analysis of specific texts translated, defining translation processes. Teacher´s revision of translations.
Assessment methods
Final written exam - translation of a specialized text with a theoretical commentary. A continuous production of the specified translations is a condition for admission to the examination.
