- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide basic orientation in both theoretical and practical problems of history of music before early 15th century and to create the qualification for analytical and critical work with sources, repertory, special literature and sounding music.
- Learning outcomes
- After the finishing of the course VH_801a the student must be able: to provide basic orientation in both theoretical and practical, problems of music history and to create the qualification for analytical and critical work with sources, repertory, special literature and sounding music.
- Syllabus
- The subject of this course is made up by following thematic spheres: 1) Music of the antique
- 2) Liturgical and paraliturgical monophony of the latin church
- 3) Secular monophony
- 4) Origins and early stage of polyphony, Ars antiqua
- 5) Ars nova
- 6) Music theory of middle-ages
