Abstract
The course provides a survey of the subject of study and goals of developmental psychology, its leading exponents, history, “classical” topics and current trends including family development. For continuation see Developmental psychology II.
Key topics
Students will get acquainted with the basic terminology and topics of this field of developmental psychology. They will learn the elements of developmental-psychological approaches to child play, fairy tales and drawing as well as of the main characteristics of the various ontogenetic stages (life periods, phases of development): the prenatal stage, the newborn stage, the infant stage, the early childhood, the pre-school age, the school age, the puberty, and the adolescence.
