Course objectives
Students will familiarize themselves with current situation of ecological/environmental education in Czech Republic. The course is focused on aims, methods and institutional framework of environmental education (EE), not on eco-educational topics themselves. It therefore follows the course PGK32B59 Environmental Education. The course consists of two teaching blocks and a two-day excursion. The teaching blocks deal with school and out-of-school environmental education for children and youth, with centres of environmental education, non-governmental organizations in the field and environmental education of general public. The excursion introduces practical activities of EE institutions and enables students to try out chosen methods of environmental education (simulation games, project teaching). After completing the course, students will have an insight in options for environmental education provided by non-profit organizations and will be able to co-prepare and co-manage projects of ecological education.
