Course objectives
After the completion of the course students should be able to deal with the fragments of Presocratic philosophers and to consider and rebuild their cosmological conceptions.

  • 1. The question of sources.
  • 2. Mythological cosmogonies.
  • 3. Cosmological ideas of Milesians.
  • 4. Pythagorean ideas about the Universe (the Cosmos).
  • 5. Heraclitus.
  • 6. The Eleatics.
  • 7. Cosmology of younger physics.

a) Oral exam - discussion on cosmological and cosmogonical views of a selected pre-socratic philosopher.
OR
b) Collecting of the given number of points in ELF for images illuminating some features or problems of the subject of lessons.
