Course objectives
The students should be able to understand, translate from Latin to Czech and to comment on the passages selected for reading.
Syllabus
  • Reading Ovidius is not a course regularly taught during the semester. Students gain credit for independent reading of selected passages from Ovid's Metamorphoses and lesser works. The reading list: Met. I 1-415; II 1-328; III; IV 55-166; VI 143-381;VIII 183-235, 616-724; X 1-77; XV 871-887. Trist. IV 10. By heart: Met. I 1-4, 89-112; XV 871-879. Reading Ovid is a prerequisite for the B.A. State Final Exam. The examination takes place after the 2nd year of the study.

Assessment methods
The knowledge of Ovid's work is tested by translating, metric analysis and commenting on selected passages from the reading list. Oral or written examination is possible also during the semester or on dates according to individual e-mail appointment.
