Course objectives
At the end of the course the students should be able to describe the key theories in normative ethics; define the basic concepts in the field; reconstruct the most important arguments; justify their own moral judgments.
Syllabus
  • Normative ethics, applied ethics and metaethics
  • Value theory
  • Consequentialism
  • Utilitarianism, preferential utilitarianism
  • Hedonism, egoism
  • Deontology - absolute and moderate
  • Contractarianism
  • Natural rights
  • Virtue ethics
Literature
  • Doporučená literatura je obsahem e-learningové podpory, která kurz doprovází.
Teaching methods
Lectures and seminar work, seminar discussions, accompanied by e-learning.
Assessment methods
2 absences allowed in the term. When exceeded, no credits can be claimed. Final written test 8-10 questions, minimum pass level 60 per cent.
