Course objectives
The goal of the seminar is to inform the students about the newest findings from the research of Early Medieval settlement of Central Europe, with a special focus on the territories of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and the Slovak Republic. The seminar will provide information on methodology, current methods and trends, the newest outcomes of scientific research, literature and scientific conferences with the topic of processing of early medieval pottery.
Syllabus
  • Attention will be paid to the issues of archaeological research, deposition and post-deposition processes, analysis and synthesis of archaeological structures, and categories of live culture in relation to processing of (early medieval) pottery as an archaeological source. These topics will be discussed not only at the theoretical level but also as practical examples.
