Course objectives
One of the aims of the seminar is to familiarize the students with the consecutive interpretation, the consecutive without notes and with notes. The student will also have a basic knowledge of the simultaneous interpreation methods
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course Interpreting Seminar I, the student will have the knowledge on consecutive interpretation, on consecutive without notes and with notes. The student will also have a basic knowledge of the simultaneous interpretation methods.
Syllabus
  • 1) Familiarization with the most common types of interpreting 2) Training of consecutive interpretation (without notes and with notes) 3) Introduction to methods of self-tuition and of simultaneous interpretation.

Teaching methods
Acquisition of basic knowledge about the types of interpretation, and about the professional qualities of the interpreter. Self-training methods. Practicing of consecutive interpretation without notes and with notes-taking. Practicing of simultaneous interpretation.
Assessment methods
Practical oral examination of consecutive interpretation. On spring 2020 online at MS Teams; each student will dispose of approx. 20 minutes.
